We expect DeleteMe to assume full operations of Permission Slip by July. Permission Slip remains live, and your requests continue to be processed. No action is required on your part. This transition will happen automatically.
There are no changes to your pending data rights requests.
There are currently no planned changes to your subscription. By July, DeleteMe will take over management of your existing subscription.
CR is still operating Permission Slip under the same privacy policy and user agreement. Once DeleteMe assumes operations of the app, the DeleteMe privacy policy and terms of service will apply.
We anticipate that the transaction will be completed by July. By continuing to use the app after the transaction is completed, you will be agreeing to the DeleteMe privacy policy and terms of service.
After advocating for the passage of America’s first privacy law in California, Consumer Reports launched Permission Slip to give people a simple, practical way to exercise their data rights and push companies to be more accountable about how they collect and use personal information. Since launch, the app has helped users submit millions of requests and has provided important insight into how companies respond to consumer privacy demands.
After careful evaluation, we have decided that DeleteMe will be better able to meet the significant ongoing investment in engineering, compliance, customer support, and infrastructure needed to provide Permission Slip users with the best authorized agent experience.
DeleteMe is an industry leader in data privacy and helped establish data deletion as a category when it launched in 2010. DeleteMe was helping users take back control of their data well before the first privacy laws had passed here in the US.
This decision does not reflect a change in CR’s commitment to exposing dangers related to privacy and security and advocating for consumer data rights. Consumer Reports remains deeply committed to advancing stronger privacy protections through research, advocacy, and public education.
If you are interested in staying involved with CR’s efforts to strengthen consumer privacy protections, sign up for our privacy advocacy email list here. Our advocates will email you when opportunities arise to take action.
No, you are subscribing to Permission Slip which is currently provided through Consumer Reports. After the completion of the transaction, Permission Slip will be provided through DeleteMe. DeleteMe also has its own subscription products.
